Up until now, if you were looking for a locking system to provide security for your facility you had two choices.
1.   Traditional, mechanical Masterkey system OR
2.   Wired access control systems. However, both these systems are limited.

With traditional, mechanical Masterkey systems you have no way of knowing who, when or where someone has entered your building. Further, if you lose a key you have to either re-key your system (expensive and time consuming) or allow your security to be compromised.
Wired access control systems on the other hand are expensive because each and every door has to be wired back to a central control area. Most outside gates, padlocks, safes are excluded from the system.

Benefits of the EKA System:
1.       No Wiring.
2.       Simple and easy to use.
3.       No More Bunch of Keys.
4.       Audit Trail and Custom Reporting.
5.       Extremely Secure.
6.       Eliminates the risk associated with lost, stolen or copied keys:
7.       Expandable
8.       Cost Effective.

Unlike the mechanical pin-based locks, the EKA cylinders have a unique physical design that prevents the use of standard lock picking tools. This, combined with the encrypted access codes within the cylinder, makes the EKA cylinder virtually pickproof.
The EKA cylinder has a circuit board with micro-processor and memory. Four types of information are stored in the cylinder: Encrypted access codes that ensure only keys within the system work with the lock, the unique ID number of the lock cylinder, a record of the last 1100 entries, and a list of lost key IDs to eliminate access by any key that is missing or lost. The circuit board inside the cylinder is potted, which provides protection from environmental hazards like salt air, dust and water. This allows installation in both indoor and harsh outdoor applications.

EKA cylinders have been tested for electrical current using a stun gun rated at 300,000 volts, and with magnets rated in excess of 18,000 gauss. The cylinders remain in a locked position and continue to perform normally.

The EKA key contains four levels of intelligence: encrypted access codes to ensure the key is from the same installation, the unique ID number of the key, access privileges for the user of the key, and storage of up to the last 3300 events, both entries and denied entries.
A standard lithium 3-volt battery located in the EKA key provides the power of the EKA System. When the key comes in contact with the cylinder, it powers up the circuitry in the lock so that the key and lock can communicate. A single battery will provide between 3000 and 5000 openings.

The unique exchange of encrypted access codes between the lock and key gives a high degree of key integrity. The encrypted codes ensure keys from other systems cannot work in your system. It is also the reason why we do not need to rely on patents for protection against key duplication as would a conventional mechanical masterkey system.

The EKA key is made of super tough nylon. The electronics of the keys are fully coated and are water resistant. Keys dropped into water once dry will continue to operate. Keys that have suffered high impact such as being dropped or run over by a car will in most circumstances continue to operate. The key has a replaceable brass tip that is designed to be sacrificial to prevent damage to both the overall keys and the cylinders. This part can easily be replaced in the field.

EKA SOFTWARE

The EKA Masterkey system software is simple and easy to use. The software allows you to assign keys, set expiry times, create access groups, enroll new cylinders, monitor staff and contractors, create access schedules and generate audit trails and custom reports.
There are two versions of software:

CyberAudit: This software is access based and is perfect for smaller or single site applications. It is designed to work on a stand alone computer. The software can accommodate up to 350 locks and 350 keys. This is the base version software but can easily be upgraded at a later stage to CyberAudit Web.

CyberAudit Web: This is a Web based enterprise version software. It is designed with large scale installations in mind. It is suitable for applications with large numbers of keys and locks as well as installations with numerous sites. This software can even manage applications in numerous countries or time zones. It is a server based application that requires no client side software. The limit on the number of locks and keys this software can handle is based around the hardware capabilities however the standard specification is suitable for 15000 locks and 15000 keys.

Both EKA softwares are designed in a way to enable anyone to use them. They have point and click screens with drop down information boxes. The EKA IT support team can simply supply the software and the manuals or provide a complete A to Z installation and training service. Regardless of how you choose to install your software, EKA’s on going support is available to you.
